Scandal pour Homme is an aromatic fougere on steroids. Imagine Eau Sauvage but about a thousand times richer and stronger, and you’re in the ballpark. It is so packed with zesty citrus and herbs that we every time we spritz it on, we inhale sharply and visualize Macaulay Culkin’s shocked gasp as he applies his father’s aftershave in Home Alone. If you’re the type of person who needs to be slapped awake, then wear this: it does the job. Of course, what would any good fougere worth its salt be without that tobacco-ish coumarin base? Roja Dove doesn’t do things by halves. And indeed here, the base is deep, rich, and impeccably turned out. Creamy woods, tonka bean, and nutmeg make for a soft, spicy almond butter-like finish that wraps the grassy sharpness of the top in its sensual embrace. A classic type of fragrance, but one that convinces entirely on the basis of superior raw materials and blending.
